Every day, more than 280,000 residents and visitors to Kyrgyzstan shop at stores operated by the Umai Group: Globus, “Narodny,” “Dostor,” and SPAR. For millions of people, it’s a familiar part of daily life—stopping by a store for fresh groceries after work, buying everything the family needs, or quickly picking up items to set the table for a holiday meal.
But behind every purchase like this lies the tremendous effort of thousands of people. The history of Umai Group began in 2002 with a single store and a vision: to shape a culture of modern retail. Twenty-four years later, the company has become the country’s largest FMCG operator, uniting more than 170 stores across Kyrgyzstan, over 7,500 employees, and millions of customers.

Today, Umai Group is much more than just a retail chain. It comprises a modern logistics infrastructure, in-house manufacturing, digital services, thousands of partners and suppliers, and—most importantly—people who work every day to ensure that customers can shop affordably, quickly, conveniently, and enjoyably.
The development of modern retail is impossible without strong domestic manufacturers. That is precisely why Umai Group is consistently expanding its cooperation with Kyrgyz enterprises. In Umai Group stores across the country, customers can purchase thousands of domestically produced goods. This allows manufacturers to scale their businesses, create new jobs, and improve product quality, while enabling customers to choose products made in Kyrgyzstan.
The company also makes a significant contribution to the country’s economic development. Every year, Umai Group pays more than 2 billion soms in taxes to the Kyrgyz budget and ranks among the top 20 largest taxpayers in the republic. Behind these figures are investments in infrastructure, new stores, modern technologies, and job creation across all regions of the country.

However, the company’s contribution is not measured solely by economic indicators. For many years, Umai Group has been implementing social, educational, charitable, and environmental initiatives. The #UmaiGroupForChildren program holds a special place among these efforts, aimed at supporting youth sports, developing talented young people, and creating opportunities for the next generation. The company assists charitable organizations, participates in environmental projects, hosts festive events, organizes fundraisers, and provides food aid to those who need it most.

All of this is part of the company’s philosophy: a successful business is impossible without a sense of responsibility toward society.
Today, the company is investing in the development of modern retail, logistics infrastructure, digital solutions, support for domestic manufacturers, and projects that make life more comfortable for the people of Kyrgyzstan.
Today, Umai Group is celebrating its 24th anniversary, and this is more than just a date in the company’s history. It represents thousands of employees, millions of customers, hundreds of partners, and the shared history of the development of Kyrgyzstan’s retail industry. We thank every customer who has chosen our stores over the past 24 years. It is your trust that inspires us to improve, grow, and do everything we can every day to make shopping even more affordable and convenient. For us, this isn’t just about you choosing us—it’s about the trust you place in us, which we value above all else.
Thank you for being with us, for choosing us, and for continuing this journey with us!
